Modus Operandi

Rutherford Sauvignon Blanc

The wine gives pretty lemon curd, white peach and elderflower scents with touches of freshly mown grass and crushed rocks. The palate is medium-bodied and refreshing with a lovely oiliness to the texture and an invigorating herbal lift on the finish.

Only 150-200 cases are produced annually.

Russian River Valley Bacigalupi Vineyard Pinot Noir

The fruit from Bacigalupi comes from two blocks on their Frost Ranch property which split Clones 667 and 777. The wine when young has a deceptive nose of forest floor, wet earthy humus and dried herb which leads one to believe the wine will be light in weight, with high acid and moderate tannin, however… once the wine is on the palate it leaves nothing to the imagination as it is extremely generous with loads of ripe red fruit, lush creamy round texture, moderate to low acid… PURE-California! This is one of our favorite wines to make AND drink!

Only 150-200 cases are produced annually.

Offering an incredibly complex bouquet of red and black fruits, new saddle leather, dried flowers, and garrigue. A seamless texture, medium to full body, silky tannins, and a singular, complex character all make for a brilliant wine that’s already drinking great today. It should keep for 10-15 years or more.

Only 300-500 cases are produced annually.

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

The blended Cabernet Sauvignon is Modus Operandi's flagship wine and what Jason Moore set out to make from the very beginning. Blended from some of the finest vineyards in Napa Valley such as the Farella and Rocca–Collinetta vineyards in Coombsville, the Edcora vineyard on Atlas Peak, and Sage Ridge in the hills above Lake Hennessey across from Pritchard Hill. At least 50% of this wine is barrel fermented in new French oak barrels and the wine is cave aged in 85-100% new French oak.

Napa Valley Rocca-Collinetta Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

The fruit from Rocca comes from two blocks which split Clones 337 and 4, and cascade down each hillside of the vineyard yielding on average just over 1 ton per acre. The wine is extremely dark, brooding, and concentrated-consistently shows a mix of red and black fruits with tamarind spice, liquid smoke, and roasted meat notes.

Deep garnet-purple colored, it has a nose of blueberry preserves, crème de cassis, Chinese five spice and potpourri with hints of camphor and iron ore. The medium to full-bodied palate is firm, elegant and fresh with fantastic finesse and depth.

50-75 cases produced annually.

Napa Valley Farella Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

The fruit for Farella comes from the tenderloin of the vineyard because of the mix of moonlike fluffy ash and gravel in the soil. This block is bathed in afternoon sunlight during the growing season, and the wine – concentrated and beautifully-structured –consistently shows a mix of red and black fruits with spice and mineral overtones. Farella Vineyard is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, Clone 7.

This wine exudes power and plush elegance the moment it graces your palate. Its round and lush texture wraps around a core of ripe red and blue fruit and sturdy structure. Layered with ripe blackberry, red plum, creamy cocoa, and sweet vanilla on the palate, super fine grain tannins bring the experience to a lengthy, broad finish. Grown in the heart of Napa Valley, this proprietary fermentation process and blend consists of a selection of my finest lots and was sorted FOUR times down to the berry, fermented in small open top fermenters, and matured in my finest selection of 100% new French oak barrels for 22 months.

Only 75 cases are produced annually.
